SAGAING DIVISION – Thousands of civilians are fleeing as the junta boats have fired heavy artillery shells at villages in Salingyi Township, according to an official of the Chindwin River Villages Strike Column.
On Sunday (July 23) morning, three junta boats coming from Ayeyarwaddy River to Chindwin River recklessly fired heavy artillery shells at the villages beside the river.
“Currently, it’s high tide, and the civilians are struggling to flee due to heavy rain. Civilians along the river are fleeing, and the junta fired without a battle while they were coming,” said a resident.
Those boats plan to support the ammunition for the junta forces from Monywa, and another junta column from Salingyi Town also launched an offensive at Sakhar Village from the south of Salingyi.
