SAGAING DIVISION- It was reported that a mentally ill resident of Sargar Village, Salingyi Town on the west riverbank of Chindwin River, was tortured and killed by Junta troops.
The junta column that entered Sargar Village on the noon of July 5, reportedly tortured the 28 years old mentally disabled person. The victim was said to be tortured and then shot in the chest.
“He was mentally disabled and couldn’t run away and got killed when junta troops entered the village. There are no other detainees,” stated a local.
The junta forces break into civilians houses in Sargar Village, searched for valuables, and looted them. They also raided Paungwa village and loaded the cars with civilian properties as they left for Kunthar Village on July 5 evening, then headed to Monywa Township in public buses, according to the locals.
