SHAN STATE – A civilian who returned to his home in Hsihseng to retrieve some items was shot and sent to Sao San Tun Hospital in Taunggyi to receive treatment and is said to be in need of financial assistance.
Mr. Pyay Tha Oo from Ward No. 1 of Phayarphyu Village in Hsihseng Township who fled his house due to the conflicts returned home to retrieve some items on April 2. He was shot in the leg on his way back and was admitted to Sao San Tun Hospital in Taunggyi.
He has also requested financial help as he cannot afford the surgical fee of 450,000 Kyats.
In other cases, the Catholic Church in Hsihseng that was in a great condition on April 1 was said to have been torched and destroyed on April 4.
Displaced people reported that the condition of the houses in Myakantha and Hoke Wards is also starkly different on April 3 compared to April 1, with abundant signs of heavy artillery damages and gunshots.
Although the junta council claimed to have regained control of Hsihseng, the reality is that there are more heavy artillery attacks causing more damage to the houses in addition to random frequent gunshots, unexploded grenades and mines, resulting in poor security. As such, displaced people warned each other to be extra cautious when returning home.
