SOUTHERN SHAN STATE – The Pa’O National Liberation Army (PNLA), which is currently in control of Hsihseng Town, issued a special appeal to the public on Tuesday (February 6).
The military council and their subordinates have been attacking Hsihseng Town which is currently controlled by PNLA. Due to continuous air and artillery attacks, the fighting is intense every day. Taking this conflict as an advantage, criminals and thieves had broken into civilian housings. The PNLA security forces have reportedly been arresting and prosecuting those thieves.
Despite the intense fighting, some locals returned to their homes to grab some items. The civilians making their way back into the town were harmed by the military council’s weapons and the aerial bomb attacks. Therefore, PNLA advised them to stay in a temporary safe place instead of returning home.
PNLA has issued frequent updates and warnings regarding the military situations in Hsihseng Town.
“Fleeing the war, living with others, there is no income and nothing to eat. So we return home to get valuables that can be sold before the thiefs steal them. But there were explosions and heavy weapon attacks in town and we could not go back and take anything. Hokhae Monastery had also been damaged in a bomb explosion,” said a local of Hokae Ward.
On February 5, a 50-year-old villager from Naung El Village was arrested and killed by junta troops. Therefore, people should be careful not to travel and live near the military council camps, announced the PNLA.
