KACHIN STATE – The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) reportedly seized a camp of the Border Guard Force (BGF) under the junta council on Tuesday (April 16).
A BGF camp in Ngamawzut Region near Tsawlaw Township was captured at 7:00 a.m. on April 16, as confirmed by two military sources.
The detailed information about the casualties on the junta side is still being investigated.
Another source also informed that a small junta-backed militia camp was seized in Ngamawzut.
The above-mentioned BGF and junta-backed militants are the forces recruited and formed by the New Democracy Army – Kachin (NDA-K) led by Mr. Zahkung Ting Ying.
The KIA has conducted operations against the junta camps in Tsawlaw Region and three camps have been captured from April 11 to 16.
The camp of Myaw Jang Ku BGF company 1001 on Tsawlaw Road was defeated on April 12 and Myaw Jaung Panwah militia camp on Chipwi-Tsawlaw Road was seized on April 11. It was informed by the military news source that there were weapons and ammunition confiscated during the clashes.
