SAGAING DIVISION – 133 displaced locals of four villages from Kani Township, Sagaing Division are getting free medical care given by protest force of Spring Revolution and citizens, according to the residents.
At about 7 a.m. on June 1, the protest group together with CDM doctors, nurses and volunteers gave medical care to some of the local displaced people and eight people received minor procedures, as told by Mr. Aung Pyae of Spring Revolution Protest Force.
“Due to difficulty in obtaining medications, we went to the displaced people for the first time this month. We finished only at 4 p.m. There were people with fever, running nose, coughing, knee pain, back pain, high blood pressure etc. who were treated free of charge. In addition eight people had lymph node surgeries,” he added.
The cost of medications has risen enormously and besides that, it is also very difficult to transport them. In spite of that, he said they will provide as much medical care as possible to the rest of the displaced people.
“All kinds of medications are needed. The price has also gone up. We have to struggle to give free medical treatment nowadays. We really need donors. The medications we used yesterday were from what we have saved. We will try to continue to give medical care,” said the aforementioned member.
Also on May 29, monetary donations from overseas and domestic donors were given to people of Kani region whose homes were damaged by junta arson raids and to locals who had been injured.
In addition, it is said that help is inevitably required as five classrooms and three toilets need to be rebuilt to be able to open a school on time for children fleeing the war in Kani Township.
