BAGO DIVISION – The Karen National Union (KNU) announced that two civilians, including a 7-year-old child, were killed when the junta council troops opened fire on the public in Nyaunglebin District.
The junta council troops shelled the villages in Hsaw Hti (Shwe Gyin) and Mue (Mone) Districts in the Brigade 3 region with heavy weapons on 28th and 29th August. Apart from the damages of public houses, it also resulted in civilian casualities.
On August 28, the 264th regiment of the junta council shelled Chong Inn, Wet Chel, Yay Twin Kone and Kyaung Kone Villages in Shwe Gyin Township and destroyed some houses in Yay Twin Kone.
In addition, KNU announced in a statement that “On August 29, the junta 264 regiment troops fired heavy weapons into Pyinyaygyi Village in the administrative area of Hsaw Hti (Shwegyin) Township, killing Ms. Thon Yati Phoo (7 years) and Ms. San Myo Oo (44), injured three people and damaged some houses in Pyinyaygyi Village.”
On August 29, the junta council fired heavy weapons into the village of Letut Gyi in Mone Township, and a man was injured.
The junta council army has been targeting villages in KNU territory with frequent heavy weapons attacks, as well as aerial bombardment.
