SAGAING DIVISION – Kawlin District Battalion 1 said that a 32-year-old man who was forcibly conscripted by the 305th Battalion of the Terrorist Army in Kawlin Township of Sagaing Division (Upper) came into the legal fold with weapons.
The young man was a university student living in a dormitory in Kyaukse, and in December of last year, the army entered his dormitory and abducted him. He said that he was forcibly recruited as a new soldier.
He said that he left the junta council army because “the commander of the column and two soldiers raped and brutally murdered a travelling 27-year-old woman.”
After the young man was recruited as a new soldier, he attended four weeks of military training at the No. 7 Basic Military Training School in Taungdwingyi.
From there, he was sent to the No. 8 Basic Military Training Unit in Shwebo. Then he was sent to the 305th Battalion and was sent along with the Tiger Ogre sub column to Kawlin.
When the column of the 305th Infantry Battalion raided Kyauktan Village of Kawlin Township on March 5, he witnessed the terrorist column commander and two soldiers raped and killed a 27-year-old woman traveller, which led to him deserting the junta army.
The responsible officer from the 1st battalion of Kawlin District said that ” He came into the legal fold on March 13. He brought along a MA 2 automatic rifle, 1000 rounds of bullets, six cartridges, a hand grenade and a land mine. The battalion awarded him 50 lakhs on April 5.”
The information officer of the 1st battalion of Kawlin District said that it is not possible to announce his information due to the security of his family.
