TANINTHATYI DIVISION – According to Batmalite* Guerrilla Force, they engaged with the junta soldiers three times in Taninthari Township, Myeik District on Sunday (August 7).
In the battle in Koe Inn Village of Taku Village Group, around 70 junta forces from Infantry Battalion 17 and 101 were trapped and surrounded by the Guerrilla Force on Sunday evening.
An official from Batmalite Force said that he heard the entrapped junta soldiers screaming, ”Please don’t shoot us. We wanna go back to our base. We don’t mean to fight.”
The official also said that the junta forces had used heavy artillery more than 50 times during the battle.
The junta soldiers abducted villagers from Kawtaw and Thamee Hla villages to make a human shield while they retreated.
The arrested civilians were released when they arrived in Banlin Village. However, a resident was shot dead near the bridge in Thamee Hla Village.
The military junta suffered serious damage in the battle on Sunday although the details have not been known yet. Batmalite Guerrilla Force has neither injury nor death.
