TANINTHARYI DIVISION – The power-hungry junta council reportedly arrested its high officials in Tanintharyi Division; brigadier general Thit Lwin Htoo, deputy command commander of Coastal Region Command, colonel Thein Lin, minister of Ministry of Security and Border Affairs and brigadier general Win Kyaw Thu, division commander, according to the military news sources.
On July 26, the Special Forces from Nay Pyi Taw arrested brigadier general Thit Lwin Htoo, deputy command commander of Coastal Region Command, colonel Thein Lin, minister of Ministry of Security and Border Affairs, Tanintharyi Division and brigadier general Win Kyaw Thu, division commander of 20th Military Operations Command (MOC-20) in Tanintharyi Division.
“It was said that they were being arrested and prosecuted because they were complained by the cronies who have close ties with the junta-in-chief Min Aung Hlaing, unable to control People’s Defence Forces (PDFs) and it became uncontrollable. The reasons for the arrest may be related. In Tanintharyi Division, the goods imported from Thailand had been continuously seized by the nefarious junta forces. But they had freed the traders who had good relations with them. They had passed the importers who gave bribes to them for the imported goods worth tens of thousands of million kyats, if not they seized the goods. For that reason, the cronies complained about it all the way to Nay Pyi Taw, and now the arrests have been made,” said a military source.
Brigadier general Thit Lwin Htoo and colonel Thein Lin were dismissed from their positions and their assets were sealed off and confiscated. The division commander Win Kyaw Thu is still under investigation.
Major general Saw Than Hlaing, command commander of Tanintharyi Division, was also examined for a while. However, on July 28, he attended the event of donating the Waso robes for 2023 year by the family of the Coastal Region Command, so it is assumed that he still remains in his position.
“The command commander still remains in his position. He held the event of donating the Waso robes on July 28. What we know now is that the deputy command commander, the border minister and the 3 divisional commanders have definitely been arrested,” said a military source.
Also in Kachin State, the coup council arrested and prosecuted military high officials including command commander of Northern Command, shortly after that, the junta’s high officials of Tanintharyi Division also were arrested and taken action.
