From 8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. on August 24, there were shells fired from Tanintharyi Town towards Banlaw Village, with some saying they were fired from junta artillery battalion 306 while some believe that the shells were from the Yebyu tactical hill.
“At the same time in Tanintharyi, there were loud noises of machine gun fire and artillery fire,” said Mr. Sai Nyi, the information officer of KTLA-tcjg at around 10:30 p.m. on August 24.
The junta shells reportedly landed and exploded in Banlaw Village and it is still being investigated if there were any civilian casualties or damaged buildings.
Regarding the continuous artillery fire, SWDF information officer commented, “PDF forces went and attacked for a short time as they wouldn’t stop the shelling. It wasn’t a battle.”
Revolutionary forces reported that on August 23 around 4 p.m., an estimated 40 junta infantry troops from Yebyu tactical hill arrived at Chaungnhapauk Village.
Moreover, junta forces have been conducting offensives and patrols in villages such as Yebyu, Htatpalat and Htonkhar Village as well as urban wards such as Banlamut, Nyaungpinkone and Htonnwe in the vicinity of Yebyu tactical hill since the second week of August.
It is said that there was more shelling towards Banlaw Village from the Bawdikam Bridge at around 10 a.m. on August 25.
Due to such attacks, some residents from Banlamut Village Tract, East Mawtone Village Tract and Tamotechone Village Tract had fled.
