KACHIN STATE- A KIA source said that the military council camp in Nambyu village was attacked and captured by revolutionary forces led by the KIA on Thursday morning (May 16)
At 7:30 a.m. on May 16th, the frontline camp of the combined battalions 297 and 260 in Nambyu Village, Tanaing Township was captured. Since May 11th, the camp has been attacked in offensive and retreating fighting style and occupied on May 16.
“The camp is a large camp with two battalions combined. A lot of weapons were seized. Junta launched air strikes and a fighter jet dropped bombs. The current causalities and seized artilleries from the junta side is still unknown,” said a KIA source.
The KIA’s operations in Kachin state, which began on March 7, have captured around 90 military council camps.
