KACHIN STATE – Kachin Independence Army (KIA) reportedly attacked and acquired a junta’s base in Tanai Township, on the morning of April 17, according to military source.
It was said that KIA captured the New Je Bum frontline base of Infantry Battalion (297) in Tanai Township, at 9:45 a.m., on April 17.
“The casualty of the junta army was still unknown. But the KIA sized their weapons,” he said.
Another military source said that the camp was captured by KIA’s Battalion (14).
Some military sources have said that the KIA has seized some Border Guard Force (BGF) and militia camps under the control of the junta council in Tsawlaw Township in the past few days and captured junta forces and weapons.
In addition, KIA combated the junta column temporarily stationed in Ah Ke Village between Myitkyina – Nammatee in Myitkyina Township, on April 14, killing six terrorist junta forces including Lieutenant Colonel Naing Naing Win of Infantry Battalion (13) and injuring eight others.
Lieutenant Colonel Naing Naing Win graduated from intake (42) of Defence Services Academy. He was sent to the frontline and was killed in battle 2 days later.
Although some news media reported that Naing Naing Win and his fellow soldiers were killed in the Kawkareik battle, they were killed in the battle in Kachin State.
