SAGAING DIVISION- Locals have reported that a villager of Thaketa was arrested, killed, and dismembered by the military council column in Taze Township.
The joint force of about 180 soldiers from Junta’s Infantry Battalion- 361 and Pyu Saw Htee members entered Thaketa village on March 19, killed one man, and left another man with knife cuts.
“The stomach of a victim was cut open and the intestines were taken out. Four children were left behind by the deceased. The other one did not die but was left with several cuts and slashes. I think they got arrested while running away,” said a resident of Taze Town.
The deceased was 50-year-old Mr. Zaw Oo, and his body was found by villagers with his stomach cut open and his intestines pulled out in Thakata village. Another villager who was stabbed and cut is said to be receiving medical treatment.
In addition, on March 19, that junta column destroyed and set fire to fifteen houses in Nyaunglaypin village, five houses in Nyangthar village, and a house and a school building in the North Tutalote village.
On March 18, that junta column reportedly entered Taze Township from Kantbalu Township, and on that day, 33 houses and more than 1,000 rice baskets from North Inn Village were destroyed. 15 houses in Ohthalgone village were also burnt down.
Currently, locals have been fleeing as the troops from IB-361 with Pyu Saw Htee militias have been raiding and launching offensives on Tanel village, according to a Taze resident.
