MAGWAY DIVISION – Members of All Burma Students Democratic Front (ABSDF) Column 3 based in Yaw Township are learning sewing skills so they can make their own uniforms, stated the spokesperson Mr. Pyae Phyo Kyaw.
Six trainers from Chin National Army (CNA) have been teaching the ABSDF members since the middle of last June, and the training period would last for 6 months.
“Currently, they are learning from our allied force. We later would have a sewing department to make our own uniforms. The main thing is to reduce the cost of buying uniforms,” continued the spokesperson.
“A pair of uniforms costs around 100,000 kyats these days but we could cut the expanse in half if we buy the fabric and sew ourselves,” Mr. Pyae Phyo Kyaw added.
ABSDF Column 3 already has two sewing machines donated by the people but more machines are still needed (for bigger production).
ABSDF Column 3 graduated the second batch (2/23) of basic military training course last July 9, with a total of 31 male and 3 female trainees. Its first batch reportedly graduated 32 members earlier in January.
