MANDALAY DIVISION – According to the police force of the National Unity Government (NUG), residents are fleeing their homes in western part of Madaya township as the joint forces of Pyu Saw Htee thugs and the junta police entered the villages.
In the morning of July 24, it is reported that they have reached the village of Thu Ye Zak in Madaya Township and the residents are fleeing to the nearby forests.
“They haven’t arrested the people yet. They have been taking things from the houses where the residents are fleeing from them. This group is not the army that came on an offensive. We found out that it is a group consisting of junta policemen and Pyu Saw Htee thugs that were hired for 15,000 kyats a day from Aung Pin Lei ward in Mandalay City. They have about 40 in strength,” said the Police Lieutenant from Madaya Township Police Force under the Ministry of Home Affairs, NUG.
Thu Ye Zak village has about 130 houses and about 700 people live there. Villagers are fleeing to nearby villages such as Alei Ywa, Bar Daye and Koe Pin so more than 2,000 have fled, according to local residents.
Last July 15, the terrorist junta army that marched into Nyaung Oak village arrested and killed four local people, so the residents were afraid and fled, according to those helping the IDPs.
