SAGAING DIVISION – Residents of Kalay reported that battles broke out in the city starting around 4 a.m. on February 21.
Defence forces reportedly launched simultaneous attacks on the junta council camps at Second, Myohla, Indaikone and Kangyi Village as well as the junta security checkpoint at Tarhan Ward in Kalay.
“Battles are still ongoing. Please wait for us to release updates on the situation,” said the information officer of CDF-KKG, a defence force taking part in the battles.
According to Defence Force soldiers, the main targets of the attacks are the junta camp in Kalay city and the camp in Kangyi Village located to the north of Kalay.
A resident shared that the defence forces captured the junta camp in Kangyi Village on February 21 morning. That camp is stationed by junta soldiers as well as junta subordinate Pyu Saw Htee militia.
The attack was conducted by Chin defence forces: CDF-KKG and CNDF, local defence forces: RKDF, Kalay based defence forces and Kalay People’s Defence Organisation.
The defence forces reported that the junta council has been firing back with heavy weapons and that there have been civilian casualties owing to junta shellings.

Residents also said that the junta council has been conducting air strikes near Kalay City as well.
