AYEYARWADDY DIVISION – The terrorist junta regime is reported to have forcibly conscripted at least 60 youths against their will in Letputta Township and is making them attend a short term military training starting November 17.
According to sources close to the general administration, the junta council has abducted at least 20 youths each from the villages of Thingangyi, Bogone and Pyinhtaungtwin near the town of Letputta.
“They forcibly conscripted the youths from Thingangyi, Bogone and Pyinhtaungtwin (Villages) on the same day. There were at least 20 youths (abducted) from each village. 20 youths from our village were taken,” said a source close to Thingangyi Village administration.
Sources inside the junta council reported that the abducted villagers were taken to the South Western Military Command in Pathein and are being given short term military training with plans of sending them to the frontlines.
“Those forcibly conscripted from Letputta are in training now. The training will only last for one and a half weeks. They will then be immediately all sent to the frontlines. The order came from the regional junta council and the South Western Command, so it had to be carried out. What is certain is that they are carrying out forced conscriptions to maintain the status quo within the military,” explained the source.
The junta council had carried out forced conscriptions in several townships of Ayeyarwaddy Division such as Maupin, Nyaungdone, Pantanaw, Wahkhaema, Kyaiklatt, Mawgyun, Dedaye and Hintada in September, October and November, as confirmed by residents of those townships.
