CHIN STATE – The joint local defence forces have been battling against the junta council troops at Taingen Village on the Kalay-Falam-Hakha Road in Tedim Township, northern Chin State starting Friday (January 12) evening, according to local reports.
“Heavy artillery shells were fired from Kalay from last night (January 12) till this morning. (A junta plane) bombed the area today around 8 a.m. We heard the sound of bomb explosions,” said a resident from the base of the Chin mountain.
It is said that the junta air force bombed Taingen Village twice at around 8 a.m. on January 13.
In addition, the junta forces on Taunghpila mountain at the west of Kalay City have also been firing heavy artillery, reported the Kalay residents.
Local defence forces have prohibited the use of Kalay-Taingen Road since November 27 for security reasons and launched offensives on the junta camp in Taingen Village that is of strategic importance.
All the residents of Taingen Village had fled the village since December and are taking shelter in safe places.
