SHAN STATE – It has been reported that the junta council ordered a curfew and not to assemble more than five people in Taunggyi, Southern Shan State on August 1. Junta’s ward administration office staff were pasting the notices in residential wards, according to locals.
It was stated in the order that some people are disturbing the security, peace and law enforcement in Taunggyi. Due to this, a curfew order of 12 a.m. to 4 a.m. is announced and gathering more than five people is prohibited.
In addition, assembly, speech, parading and protesting were not allowed in Taunggyi Township.
A local of Taunggyi Township condemned this announcement by junta group is to suppress the civilians and it is just a usual practice of military dictators.
He added, “They (junta group) suppressed on civilians intentionally. They did it only for themselves. If we were under their dictatorship, we would continue to be suppressed like this. We need to make revolutionary successful if we don’t want to be like that.”
The locals said that junta announced curfew every month since military coup but they didn’t announced for few months.
