BAGO DIVISION – There were two explosions in front of the central Thingyan Pavilion and the Myanma Economic Bank in Taungoo and three junta and police forces were injured, according to local people and Sittugyi, the officer in charge of Taungoo Urban Revolution Force.
At 12:47 p.m. on April 16, Taungoo Urban Revolution Force attacked the junta forces drunk and rowdy in front of the Myanma Economic Bank, around 500 yards from the Taungoo Central Pavilion, with a hand grenade and the attack resulted in junta casualties, reported Sittugyi.
A local resident confirmed the attack, “There was an explosion in front of Myanma Economic Bank located 500 yards away from the central pavilion where the junta forces were playing with water. All the programs at the central pavilion were put to a halt following the explosion. All entrances and exits were blocked. Then four military vehicles arrived and one carried back the injured junta forces. The other three vehicles left behind. They are checking the CCTV records. At least three police and soldiers were injured.”
Moreover, another mine exploded near the Taungoo Central Pavilion at 2:07 p.m. later that day and junta forces ran up the pavilion and recklessly opened fire then all planned programs at the pavilion were halted.
“When the mine exploded, the police and soldiers all ran up on the stage and fired their guns wildly. The central pavilion is closed and the passersby in the area are being summoned, questioned and assaulted,” said Sittugyi.
