TANINTHARYI DIVISION – Locals stated that around 30 junta forces who have been stationing in the football field near Shin Dat Wae Pagoda, Maung Mei Shaung Village, Dawei Township, Tanintharyi Division were shot by the People’s Defence Forces (PDFs) on Sunday (November 19) at around 2:30 p.m.
“They (junta thugs) ordered civilians to buy alcohol (for them) and became drunk. Some of them were shot to death,” a local source close to the PDF said.
In addition, the junta thugs are said to have counterattacked after being ambushed in an unguarded moment. The casualties of both sides during the attack are still under investigation.
On the same day (November 19) at around 4 p.m., the junta troops stationing in Zahar Village reportedly marched to the scene of the shooting to reinforce.
Shin Dat Wae Pagoda, located in Maung Mei Shaung Village, is one of the ancient Shin Koe Shin pagodas which is famous in Dawei Region.
Similarly, on November 15, the junta thugs, police and traffic police stationing at Eain Shae Pyin inspection gate at the entrance of Dawei Town were attacked and some of them were announced to be dead.
