MAGWAY DIVISION – Locals reported that the junta arsonist forces intentionally set fire to the civilian houses in Ohn Taw Village in Pauk Township without any fight, at around 10:00 a.m., on May 22.
The brutal junta column with around 30 forces raided Ohn Taw Village under cover of gunfire and intentionally torched the civilian houses in the village, and departed to Yar Gyi Pyin Village (dominated by pro-junta Pyu Saw Htee thugs), over a mile away from Ohn Taw Village, at around 1:00 p.m., according to a Pauk resident.
“The number of houses that were lost in the junta’s arson raid have not been confirmed yet. The residents have evacuated. They are unable to return to their homes as Ohn Taw Village is located next to the village dominated by bloodthirsty Pyu Saw Htee militants, divided just by a stream,” he said.
It was reported that nearly a thousand locals of Ohn Taw and Aint Kaing Villages had been forced to flee their homes and are sheltering at nearby villages due to the vicious junta’s offensive attacks and arson raids.
It was the fourth time that Ohn Taw Village which have around 140 houses had suffered junta’s arson attacks. Due to the junta’s arson raids, seven houses in February, 12 houses on March 5, and 11 houses on March 9 were lost in the fire during 2023.
