THAILAND – The Thai government has repatriated 48 junta soldiers who fled to Thailand, according to military sources in Thailand.
These soldiers fled from the Mel Thayaw Khi junta camp on the border of Kyar In Seik Gyi and Kawkareik Township. On March 19, they sought refuge in Pai Khalan Village, Ohn Phan Town, Thailand, following a battle with KNLA comrades. Villagers then alerted Thai military and police, leading to the soldiers’ detention, during which they were instructed to lie on the ground with their hands on their heads. Thai soldiers also confiscated their weapons.
On March 21, an additional 26 junta soldiers from the Yay Ta Yout junta camp in Kyar In Seik Gyi Township, near the Thailand-Myanmar Border, were detained by the Thai military, along with their weapons. On the morning of March 21, these troops fled to Pai Khalan Village, Ohn Phan Town.
