THANINTHARYI DIVISION-The junta council jet fighter bombed the place, Yaekyaw near Mautaung on the Thai border in Thanintharyi Township, said Ko Sai Nyi, the information officer of the South Twin Army Group (SBA).
Ko Sai Nyi said that there is a place where the Kawthulay Army (KTLA) is giving military training to allied forces and community defense groups in Naykyaw near Mautaungnge village.
Yesterday (March 15) afternoon, at about 11:30 a.m., 15 minutes later, a junta jet fighter attacked, dropped six bombs, and opened fire with machine guns.
Ko Sai Nyi said there are about 20 houses in Naykyaw and the civilian and military trainees were not harmed, but the orchards were damaged.
He said that where a bomb fell, plants within half an acre were destroyed.
The junta jet fighter that dropped the bomb was reportedly a K-8W fighter.
In the first week of February of this year, the junta council attacked the area near the Naykyaw area with an MI-2 helicopter and dropped 11 bombs. Yesterday’s incident was the second attack and a jet fighter was used.
Ko Sai Nyi, the Southern Three Brotherhood Alliance’s (SBA) information officer, confirmed that the junta council carried out the first airstrike when the Kawthulay Army was giving military training.
In Naykyaw, near the border of Thailand, in the Thong Kha-Mao Taung section, most of the Karen people live and work mainly in gardening.
The junta council is located in Dawei Township’s East Forest Region, Aerial attacks are being carried out continuously in Thare Chaung Township and Thanintharyi Township.
