THAILAND – It was reported that former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin met with some revolutionary groups in Chiang Mai, Thailand, in April.
On April 13th, former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin and his team met with the representatives of the Karen National Union, Karenni National Progressive Party, Kachin National Organization, Restoration Council of Shan State and National Unity Government. Thailand Reports said that they met in Chiang Mai. However, the revolutionary forces and the NUG had not officially confirmed that they held a meeting with the former Prime Minister of Thailand.
The new Thai Foreign Minister, Maris Sangiampongsa, said that former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin had the opportunity to personally meet and discuss with the Burmese revolutionary forces. He confirmed to the Thai media that the discussion had not related to the Thai government.
The new Thai foreign minister made such a comment when news emerged that former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin met with some revolutionary forces to resolve the Myanmar crisis.
