SAGAING DIVISION – It has been reported from People’s Defence Forces that they temporarily detained 30 IDPs including people related to junta officers due to the presence of junta informers related to airstikes inside Tigyaing Township.
It has been reported that starting from December 15, the PDF has been inspecting the suspected people and their phones as the junta council accurately attacked the location of civilians including Tigyaing hospital from the first day of battle to capture Tigyaing (November 10) to December 28.
A Leader of a Village People’s Defence Team (Tigyaing Township) said that “some had been checked and released while some are still remaining. There are different kinds of people. Some are wives and girlfriends of junta captains, Non-CDMers and a few civilians.”
It has been known that the detained people were not only residents of Tigyaing but also villagers from nearby villages.
He added that it was difficult to say the exact list of those detained and inspected because those who were found not to be informers were just released.
It was also known that the inspection started due to the report of the hospital’s responsible people after a comrade, injured during the battle in Tigyaing, receiving treatment at the hospital was killed by the bombing of the hospital by the junta air force in the third week of December.
A member of PDF said, “we just checked nicely. And we also couldn’t avoid checking. There had already been many losses on our side. And our informer among junta forces also said that there were junta informers at our side. That’s why we started the inspection.” He added that there were no junta informer uncovered till now and so no action was taken.
It has been reported that the battles have paused in Tigyaing Township while the junta council is reinforcing its numbers.
Over 150 civilians had died due to junta air strikes and six PDF soldiers fell during the battle to capture Tigyaing Town.
