SAGAING DIVISION – A woman who was returning home in Tigyaing, Katha District was shot to death by the junta council soldiers at about 7:00 p.m. on Thursday (October 19), according to Tigyaing People’s Defence Force (PDF).
The victim was 19-year-old Ms. Thoon Yati, an owner of a salad shop in the outskirts of Tigyaing and was reportedly killed on her way back home after closing the shop, and a person accompanying her also got some injuries.
There was a battle between the junta soldiers and the local People’s Defence Force in Tigyaing at about 6:00 a.m. on that day and the salad shop owner was shot by the soldiers who were on their way to downtown. It was said that the dead body will be cremated on October 20.
This was said to be the first time that the junta soldiers shot a person to death in Tigyaing.
There have been 4,151 civilians murdered by the junta council soldiers since the first day of military coup (February 2021) as of October 19, 2023, reported the Assistance Association for the Political Prisoners (AAPP).
