YANGON DIVISION – It is reported that the ex-military men released from prison (on amnesty) were training at the No. 1 Tatmadaw Advanced Training School (Tataka 1) in Tikegyi Township, according to people close to the army.
Starting in the second week of December, more than 160 ex-soldiers are retrained, many of whom were convicted of desertion or absence without leave.
“I don’t know how long the course is. It is a modified form of military training (like a refresher course). More than 160 people arrived in the first batch,” said a person close to the (Tataka 1) Army.
The military council, the most affected by high causalities during Operation 1027 that started in October, gave amnesty to the defected/ex-soldiers all over the nation imprisoned for desertion/absence without leave, and forced them to return to service.
Placing the former soldiers who have been absent/defected from the army to join the military refresher training is to restore obedience to orders, said a CDM soldier.
“As they were forced to return to service (without their consent), the military council already knew that they could run away again. That is why they didn’t immediately put them on duty but retrained to put them back in shape. It would be a short-term training as they urgently need reinforcements,” said the informer.
The advanced training schools open other courses for the promotional soldiers of the Military Army, including infantry junior seargent, seargent, and corporal training. The principal of the training school is Brigadier General Myo Min Than, according to a close military source.
