YANGON DIVISION – The ward administrator and hundred-household-chief from Ward No. 88 in Dagon Seikkan Township were shot dead on Monday (May 22) morning, according to the residents of the ward.
Tauk Tae (aka) Zaw Lwin, the junta-appointed ward administrator and his subordinate, hundred-household-chief, were reportedly shot multiple times at past 10 a.m. on Monday as they were on their way to a cockfighting match.
“This is the third (junta-appointed) ward administrator eliminated. Two former ward administrators have been killed before him. At that time, he barely escaped and was appointed to this position. And now, he has died without holding on to the position for a year. Probably another junta stooge will be appointed the next ward administrator,” said a resident.
Tauk Tae was the third ward administrator of Ward No. 88 appointed by the junta regime. Two former ward administrators also appointed by the junta council before him, Khin U and Thein Zaw were also similarly shot dead.
Locals reported that after Tauk Tae was shot dead, his subordinates were rampaging in Wards 88, 90 and 91, on motorbikes while carrying swords.
There was also a junta vehicle parked at the corner of Yadanar Street and Kumap Minthar Street with six junta soldiers standing by as well as junta soldiers in uniform and mufti observing near Kalawae Bridge, on Bago River Road and at the entrance of Sittaung Yeikmon.
