BAGO DIVISION – The junta council’s Infantry Battalion (IB) 30 at Pyinpongyi Village in Hpayargyikwin Village Tract, Daik U Township, was attacked with missiles, injuring three, according to the information team of No. 2 Sub-region, Southern Military Division.
The junta IB 30 base was attacked with two 107 mm missiles at 8 p.m. on July 23 and one of the missiles is said to have landed and exploded between the gate and the barracks.
“Two missiles were fired, but only one exploded. That junta battalion is the one interrogating and torturing the political prisoners in Daik U Prison. They had also murdered the detainees,” said the information officer.
It is learnt from ground sources that three junta forces were killed in the attack, and the child of a junta officer was also hospitalised after going into shock upon hearing the explosion.
Only around an hour after the missile attack did the junta battalion fire heavy and small weapons into the nearby villages.
Bago District Battalion 3701, Company 5 of the People’s Defence Army (PDF), and Daik-U Defence Force (DDF) reportedly cooperated to carry out the attack.
The entrance gate of the base of Daik U based junt light infantry battalion 440 and the 72 miles junta checkpoint were attacked back in February 26, killing two and injuring six.
