SAGAING- Junta troops burned Mu Kangyi Village of Sagaing’s Depayin Township for the second time on August 8 at around 4:00 p.m.
“We can see from afar that junta troops have started burning the village. Locals are fleeing. Sounds of heavy weapons, mines, and machine gun firings came prior to the burning. It is not yet possible to confirm whether civilians have been harmed. The damage is not yet known. Even now, the smoke can still be seen, and the fire is very high,” said a resident.
Mu Kanggyi Village is a bustling model village in the eastern part of Depayin Township, and when the terrorist army raided and burned it for the first time, 168 houses were burnt to ashes.
The army columns responsible for burning were the column of 4 groups that came from Le Hlote Village in the southeast of Depayin Township.
“Ever since we received words that their columns had been heading towards the village since 11:00 in the morning, many villagers have already avoided them in advance. Now they are burning the village. Smoke is coming from the village. We can see it from a long distance. We have no knowledge of any fighting on the ground. This was acted maliciously to cause trouble to the people,” said a local villager.
