SAGAING DIVISION – Houses were built and donated to long term internally displaced people in Tabayin Township, said a representative from Tabayin Township Brotherhood Team.
There are around 600 households from Shwebo Township taking shelter in Tabayin Township to escape from the war and they have fled their homes from six months to two years.
Three-room houses of 15 feet height, costing around 2.5 lakhs MMK per house, are being built out of toddy palm materials for those households.
“We are prioritising those who are staying in makeshift shelters with no one to rely on and those who have to take shelter at other people’s homes. Because they have been taking shelter for a long time, the homeowners are starting to lose patience. Currently, there are three houses under construction,” said the representative from Tabayin Township Brotherhood Team.
He continued that the money for those houses was paid to the civilian leaders in the village and the houses are built on land selected according to tradition.
Families of fallen PDF members are also said to be among the IDPs and houses are prioritised for those struggling more.
Those wishing to donate houses for the long term IDPs in Tabayin Township can make donations via the social media page of Tabayin Township Brotherhood Team at https://m.facebook.com/DepayinTownshipBrothers.Official/.
Tabayin Township Brotherhood Team, in place of the donors, has donated clothes and six Pyi of rice per household to 14 IDP households in the township on July 4.
