KARENNI STATE- On April 28, the displaced persons stated that food and tarpaulin for shelter were at the “Seint San Yay” Refugee Camp in the western part of Demoso Township.
“We mainly need rice and food. Oil and salt. Now the price has skyrocketed and we can’t afford them as we have no income. I have a small children and has been struggling since I was unemployed. We need a shelter and a place to sleep,” said a woman who fled the war.
It is known that there are 36 houses in the Seint San Yay IDP camp, with more than 130 people living there, including more than 60 elderly people, children, and nursing mothers.
The people fleeing the war from Doangkha Ward and Loikaw Town, could not return home nor do business and agricultural work until now due to the proximity to junta stations.
In more than 50 IDP camps in the western part of Demoso Township, people fleeing the war have difficulty doing business and only rely on donations. There is a need for drinking water and rainproof shelters and rations as the period of fleeing the war has extended.
