KARENNI STATE – According to local sources, the military council has been re-launching aerial attacks more frequently these days as the weather is improving in the western part of Demoso Town. As a result, those fleeing the war are concerned about air raids.
“The battle has been going on since the beginning of August but it rained (hard) that time and thus they didn’t use aerial attack much. In recent one or two days, when the weather is clear, they resumed aerial attacks. It is also sunny today (August 12) and I’m a little scared (of the air raids),” said a local.
“On August 12, the junta launched air attacks twice at around 00:25 a.m. and 00:36 a.m. The attack took place in the western part of Demoso, far from the recent battleground, and due to the difficulty of the phone line and internet access, details about the casualties are not known yet,” he said.
Last August 10, at 2:00 and 4:00 p.m., the military council launched airstrikes in southern Demoso Township. Although no one was hurt, a building was damaged, the source said.
Since August 2, the battle between the junta council and Karenni Revolutionary Joint Forces has been intense on the Demoso-Hpruso Road and it is reported that the military council had suffered, but the details have not been released yet.
On August 2, the KNDF issued an emergency warning to the public not to travel on Dawnyinkhu-Hteepawso section of the Union Highway between Demoso and Hpruso Townships.
