YANGON DIVISION – 37 women from the Japanese Language School at the No. 1 Zaykway, Min Nandar Street, Burma Aye Ward, Dawpon Township, Yangon Division, were said to have been abducted by the junta army, as said by a local resident.
The junta forces came into the Japanese Language School after 11 p.m on August 24 to check the guests registration list and abducted the female trainees, he continued.
“As there were many people, their cars were not enough. The passerby cars were forcibly stopped to bring the women to the police station. I heard that the women who came to attend the school were abducted. The case is reportedly being negotiated at the police station this morning (August 25),” said a local resident.
The local residents said that in Yangon, the junta soldiers have been doing more extortion money after checking the guests registration list in the wards, abduction of the youths who are drinking alcohol, and inspection of mobile phones and abducting, compared to before.
“Now things have become worse. It’s not an arrest but extortion of money after forcing the people to spend a night in the cells at the police station. They ask at least one hundred thousand Myanmar Kyats per charge. In the morning, the abductees are sent to the related court where the abductees have to spend at least one hundred thousand Myanmar Kyats more. Afterwards, they were released after being asked to sign forms,” said a source close to the police forces.
Currently, the junta forces are targeting the youths to extort money, which has caused the parents to be worried daily, said the local people.
