THAILAND – It was reported that more than 300 houses were burnt to ashes due to the military council’s heavy weapons at Dhamatha Village, Kyaikmaraw Township, Mon State. To support the displaced people affected by this, Thailand’s U-23 national football player, Phongsakon has raised 36,500 baht in the jersey auction.
Phongsakon is a 17-year-old professional player for the Thai League-1 club Ratchaburi FC, as well as a player for the U-23 (Thailand) national team.
He was born to Mon ethnic parents in Sangkhla Buri, Thailand. Phongsakon auctioned the number 15 jersey he played for the Thai national team in last year’s AFC U-17 Asian Cup to donate to the war refugees of Dhamatha Village.
He thanked the bidder who paid an unexpected 36,500 baht and everyone who helped with the auction.
The Bangkok Post reported that the bidder was a Mon woman, known only as Pansak. Until now, the villagers of Dhamatha have been facing some problems while hiding and living in the forest and caves, as reported by the Bangkok Post.
