BAGO DIVISION – A local resident reported that a civilian from Western part of Nattalin died and another injured after stepping onto a landmine planted by the military council troops.
Mr. Zaw Lwin (55) and Mr. Win San Htoo from Lay Ein Tan Village who were herding the cattle near the Phalanpinkone jetty of Taungnyo Dam on the morning of December 3 stepped on the mine set up by junta soldiers. Mr. Zaw Lwin was killed at the scene and Mr. Win San Htoo was wounded.
“I heard a loud mine explosion. Not long after, I saw a military boat coming out from Leinpinkone Village. I want to help, but I don’t dare to go,” said a resident.
The company commander of the Phoenix DF team Bo Moe Kyoe said, “Mr. Zaw Lwin’s brother said that his brother’s leg was amputated and died on the spot. The family took the body back. Win San Htoo is recovering because he is being treated with medicine from the battalion office.”
Similarly on December 23, Mr. Ngato (27) from Lay Ein Tan Village, stepped on a landmine planted by the junta council near Tha Phan Chaung Village while he was tending cows. His leg was amputated from thigh and also died on the way for medical treatment, a member of People’s Defence Force confirmed.
It is reported that all the people who stepped on landmines are local residents.
Fascist army has been advancing in Nattalin Township almost every day since December 19, capturing and killing residents, and more than thousands residents from more than 9 villages have fled.
