UNITED STATES – A demonstration was held at New York Time Square on December 10, the international Human Rights Day, under the title “Let’s root out the military dictator to regain human rights.”
The event, led by New York City Burmese Community (NYCBC), was attended by a large number of Myanmar expats in New York City despite the winter rain.
The Myanmar citizens abroad protested for the junta council to end all violence and for the international community including the UN to take action on the junta regime that is bombing the civilians as well as IDP camps.
In addition, Aungthapyay (Eugenia leaves) movement to pray for the success of the People’s Defence Forces (PDF) and ethnic resistance forces who are standing strong on the side of the people and fighting back against the terrorist junta council was held on the same day.
Moreover, several attendees spoke to the crowd, asking for the immediate release of State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi and unjustly detained people, stating their stand with the civilians and students sentenced to death for their beliefs, and stressing the need to promote the rights of women and to protect the rights of children.
After that, the crowd chanted the Myanmar Spring Revolution related slogans and democracy and human rights related slogans in Burmese and English to raise international awareness.
