NAYPYITAW – State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi, who was unlawfully prosecuted and is currently imprisoned in Naypyitaw Prison by the junta council, was said to have been visited by some junta generals including Lieutenant General Soe Htut, the minister for home affairs and the vice prime minister of the junta council.
Lieutenant General Soe Htut, Lieutenant General Yarpyae and retired Lieutenant General Khin Zaw Oo were said to have met with Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi in the prison of Naypyitaw, once on May 27, 2023 and another time on June 4, 2023.
It is said that they tried to involve the State Counselor in the peace talks and make her request to stop the violence around the country, but Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi was known not to have given any reply.
Such cases of the junta generals visiting Ms Aung San Suu Kyi could be related to the case of the monk from Thabarwa meditation center visiting Mr. Tin Oo, the patron of the National League for Democracy (NLD).
The monk wanted Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi to retire from the political stage and turn to philanthropic works, which could be drawn as a conclusion that the junta generals might have said the same to Me. Aung San Suu Kyi. As the generals could not persuade her to do what they wanted, they used their people from the religious sector to repeat their words, remarked a political analyst.
There are also some observations that the junta council which has been failing in politics, economics and every sector is trying to use the State Counselor for their own sake.
The State Counselor, Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi, has been sentenced to 33 years imprisonment and is currently detained in Naypyitaw Prison.
