MAGWAY DIVISION – The Youth Force (Saw & Kyaukhtu) from Gangaw District Battalion 13 did good deeds on Thursday (May 4), for a comrade, who fell in battle 60 days ago.
On March 6, his company was ambushed by the junta forces on the Saw-Kyaukhtu Road while they were going to reinforce the battle near Kyantaw Village, said the responsible person from the Youth Force.
“He fell in battle while providing cover fire for his comrades to escape, shot by junta troops on the way to provide reinforcement. The body of the fallen comrade was not recovered. The junta troops burned it,” said the officer in charge of the force.
The comrade who died in battle was 20-year-old Mr. Zin Phyo Lwin. He was from the Yaw Region and attended military training in Yaw Region.
“Comrade Zin Phyo Lwin came to this group to fight against the dictator. He was a trusted comrade in the division. He didn’t even have a phone,” said the youth force officer.
Because junta soldiers burned the body, the Youth Force (Saw & Kyaukhtu) team held a funeral for him without the body and built a memorial tomb as well as offered alms on his behalf. In addition to this, the National Unity Government’s Humanitarian Department and the battalion also provided some support to the bereaved family, according to the statement.
Gangaw District Battalion 13 also shared that they regret losing Mr. Zin Phyo Lwin who was honoured as a martyred hero for sacrificing his life fighting to save the rest of his comrades.
