MANDALAY DIVISION – The Ta’ang Army (TNLA), Mandalay PDF and the junta council troops started fighting since 6:30 a.m. on November 1 near Shwe Nyaung Pin Village in Nawnghkio township.
TNLA announced that “As part of Operation 1027, in Brigade (2) Military Region, Nawnghkio township, the Junta Council Army stationed between Shwe Nyaungpin village and Ohmmati village, was attacked by Ta’ang Army PSLF/TNLA and MDY PDF joint forces at around 6:00 a.m. on November 1.”
TNLA, Mandalay PDF and junta council forces have been fighting since October 31 in Shwe Nyaungpin village and Ohmmati village. “There was heavy fighting in Shwe Nyaungpin since yesterday. This morning too. Cars are not allowed to go to Pyin Oo Lwin anymore,” said a resident of Nawnghkio.
In addition, Mandalay PDF published a photo with the military council soldiers who were wounded and captured during the battle were given medical treatment.
Mandalay PDF reported that two junta soldiers under nickname “Master Ko Hla Shwe” and “Shan Myauk Ko Malar Nei Hote (It’s better not to come to northern Shan)” who were injured and captured in the battle on November 1st, are receiving medical treatment.
In addition, military council members have been informed that if they surrender to the People’s Defense Army (Mandalay), they will be kept safe and dignified.
“After yesterday’s battle, there are soldiers who were wounded and captured alive. At present, they are doing well and receiving treatment,” Mr. Osmond, the Mandalay PDF spokesperson said.
The people who want to travel to these areas where the fighting is going on and the areas where the military is tense during this operation, they need to inform and get permission from the relevant PSLF/TNLA governing body, regiment of TNLA for safety and security.
The junta council army advanced towards TNLA and Mandalay PDF located at the fork in Ohmmati village in Nawnghkio township, Northern Shan State at around 5:30 p.m. on October 31 and started fighting.
Mandalay PDF informed that one armored vehicle from the enemy’s side retreated with damage and (1) MA1, (3) MA2 and (2) MA3 and related ammunition were seized.
Prior to the fighting, the Junta Council carried out airstrikes by fighter jets in the morning as well as attacked at least 14 times with machine guns from air during the fighting.
Mandalay PDF is attacking the Military Council Army in Nawnghkio township together with TNLA from Three Brotherhood Alliance which is conducting ‘Operation 1027’.
On the morning of October 29th, TNLA and Mandalay PDF began attacking the 114th Light Infantry Battalion of the Junta Council in Kyauk Kyan village, outside Nawnghkio, on the road from Nawnghkio to Pyin Oo Lwin.
As a result of the attack, the junta soldiers left the battalion and took refuge in the Kyauk Kyan village monastery, Nawnghkio residents said.
Later in that night, the Military Council employees, the police and other employees, left the town and went to the No. 17 Artillery regiment on the road from Nawnghkio to Lawksawk to take shelter, according to the residents. In addition, they also said that the detainees at the police station were also taken along with them.
On October 27th, the members of the brothers of the northern alliance, Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and Arakan Army (AA) announced the start of ‘1027 Operation’ and launched simultaneous raids on military council camps in northern Shan State starting at 4:00 a.m.
