MYANMAR – The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) published that a total of 3,558 innocent people had been killed by junta across Myanmar, after over two years of the bloody coup d’état in Myanmar.
The list was compiled by AAPP from 1 February 2021 to 19 May 2023.
As of 19 May 2023, 18,218 people are currently under detention and 5,990 out of them had been sentenced in person during the Spring Revolution. Of those convicted, a total of 114 death row prisoners were sentenced to death in connection with the spring revolution and are being detained in prison. A total of 121 people had been sentenced in absentia including 42 people sentenced to death. It brings the total to 156 people who have been sentenced to death.
Currently, a total of 4,313 people have been released including 24 people on bail.
The described numbers are the data collected by the AAPP and the actual numbers on the ground can be higher. AAPP added that they will update the numbers if more information is collected.
AAPP can be contacted to provide information of anyone who has been abducted, detained and prosecuted during Spring Revolution such as leaders of civil society organizations, civilians, activists, journalists, CDM workers and others from various fields including fallen heroes.
