MYANMAR – The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) stated that the military junta has been murdering innocent civilians since the coup, and 3,576 people have fallen according to the data until May 25, 2023.
It is stated that according to the data collected by the AAPP from February 1, 2021, to May 25, 2023, 18,396 people are being unjustly detained, and 6,096 of them have been sentenced to prison.
Among those who have been sentenced, 114 people were sentenced to death. 121 people were sentenced in absentia, and 42 of them were sentenced to death in absentia. According to these data, a total of 156 people were sentenced to death.
24 people were released on bail, and the total number of releases is said to be 4,319.
The described numbers are the data collected by the AAPP, and the actual numbers on the ground can be higher. AAPP added that they will update the numbers if more information is collected.
It is also stated that those who have information about the leaders of civil society organizations, civilians, activists, journalists, and CDM staff from various sectors being abducted, detained, or charged, and those who have been murdered during the Spring Revolution, can contact and inform AAPP.
