YANGON DIVISION – Yangon-based Urban Guerrilla (UG) members have been arrested continuously this month, and on June 8th and 9th, not less than five were arrested in two days, according to Yangon-based revolutionary forces.
“After the arrest of a member of Brave Eagles, a UG group based in Yangon, on June 8th at Tasaunggyi Road in Kyimyindaing Township, four more members were arrested in a row due to a chain of arrests,” said Mr. Peter from Sangyaung main strike force.
He said, “Armed men in civvy stormed into the home of Mr. Aung Myin and captured him. They are trying to arrest some of the people who were linked to him. So far, five people have been arrested, including Mr. Aung Myin.”
It is also reported that after the military council arrested Mr. Aung Myin, they contacted other members through him and asked them to make an appointment then arrested. It is not yet known whether the weapons were included at the time of the arrest and where the members who were arrested have been detained until now.
“We called him continuously but no answer at first, then for a while he answered with wrong security codes, and answered that no harm. We asked him to make a video call by the internet, and his voice is trembling but only said he is safe. We asked to remove face mask but he didn’t. He’s in abnormal condition. There is something like someone is pointing from his back. That’s the last conversation with him,” said the person close to Mr. Aung Myin.
Currently, the junta council side is trying to track down and arrest the organizations and members connected to the Brave Eagles (UG), so the resistance forces based in Yangon are warning those connected to them to flee.
The arrest of Yangon-based urban guerrillas in a period of the past ten days this month were two members of the Special Task Force and five members of the Brave Eagles, total seven of them. But the junta council hasn’t announced any news about the arrest yet.
Within this month, attacks on the military council and guerrilla protests in Yangon have become more intense, and the military council has been conducting strict searches and arrests.
