MAGWAY DIVISION – People’s Defence Forces (PDF) attacked the junta convoy that left Pakokku to reinforce Chin State and Yaw Region, killing at least 80 within nine days and the junta convoy reportedly cannot advance forward.
The convoy with around 100 vehicles departed from Pakokku on March 22 and arrived at Kamma on March 23. The PDF started their attacks on the convoy even before it reached Kamma.
“The convoy could only reach a little past Kamma. We have been attacking it continuously, mainly using mines. At least 80 were killed. We learned from a reliable source. There are also some from the infantry column running away,” said a PDF soldier.
The battle is most intense near Joepyan Village between Kamma and Pauk. There are also rumours that a captain and three soldiers deserted the convoy in the past few days. A PDF soldier added that Captain Hein Htike Ko and four soldiers also deserted that convoy on Sunday (March 31).
The convoy is stuck between Kamma and Pauk, unable to advance forward and is said to be split up. It is also said that they have requested reinforcement. In addition, Pauk PDF said that the junta forces are bulldozing a route to Yaypyar Village in Pauk Township as they are too scared of mines to use the existing roads.
That junta convoy had come out to deliver reinforcement to Chin State and Yaw Region. Once it passes Pauk Town, it will reach Kyaukhtu and revolutionary forces think that it can continue to the Chin mountain ranges or to Yaw Region from there.
The junta council had similarly tried to reinforce Chin State and Yaw Region with around 70 trucks and 300 soldiers last September but suffered heavy losses after PDF blocked off and attacked that convoy in Pauk Township.
