SHAN STATE – All department offices under the junta council in Pinlaung of southern Shan State were reported to have moved to Taunggyi by March 22.
A source close to the Pinlaung Township general administration office shared that they started moving to Kalaw and Aungban starting March 18.
“They started the move on Monday and reached Kalaw and Aungban on Tuesday. The first to move was the general administration department, followed by the fire department and the regional hospital. The general administration, immigration and health departments moved again to Taunggyi on Thursday,” explained the source.
As the battle between the junta council, Pa’O militia (PNA) and defence forces in Pinlaung Township has approached extremely close to the town of Pinlaung, documents were first moved to Aungban and Kalaw then again to Taunggyi where the situation is stable to join with the related offices.
“Even if there are only soldiers, police and PNA militants remaining in the town, they can desert it at any time. They will then leave the town and continuously bomb with planes till it is ruined just like they did to Hsihseng. People of Pinlaung need to make necessary preparations. Listen closely and if you need to flee don’t just go to somewhere like Naungtayar but straight to Kalaw, Aungban or even Taunggyi if possible,” advised a Pinlaung resident and member of the Southern Shan Defence Force.
The department offices from Hsihseng and Hopong had similarly merged with the departments in Taunggyi back in January.
The Pinlaung branch of the Myanma Economic Bank, the sole branch in Pa’O self administered region also moved to join the branch in Taunggyi.
