SOUTHERN SHAN STATE- According to the local news source, students were also recruited for junta military service in Lainnyar village group, Pinlaung Township, Pa’O self-administrated region, Southern Shan State.
It has been reported that Hoponekoyinlay base battalion of Pa’O National Army (PNA) opened two months for basic military course and students who were going to be in Grade 11,12 in coming year, were attended for 3 days in that course.
A villager of Lainnyar village said, “They said that it was for protection of village. Students also had to attend. We were afraid now although they said the recruitment will happen only if necessary.”
Those military course held near Kaungpalaung, Northern part of Nyaungmhue village. There was a junta military course during the beginning of Hsiseng battle known as from locals.
It has been reported that those junta course was attended by males who were aged from 15 to 40 years, from Hteebwar, Lainnyar, Takharyin, Hantanar, Nyaunghmue, Tatauk villages.
A villager of Takharyin village said, “Some were getting old due Covid-19 and military coup. But 15 and 16 years old also had to attend. It was to protect the village but it was to protect from them (Pyithusit). Without them, there would be no war.”
It has been known from parents of students that there was a notice letter that the one who didn’t attend military course by PNA, have to be recruited by junta. That’s why students had to attend military course by PNA.
Last time, six people were chosen for military service in Lainnyar village group and those being chosen didn’t want to service in junta military service. Due to that, they had to pay 45,000 MMKs per house to PNA for replacements.
