TANINTHARYI DIVISION – Locals reported that the terrorist junta forces captured at least 10 civilians of Pala Town in Palaw Township.
Locals said that the junta forces raided the houses in No (3) and No (4) wards of Pala Town at around 7:00 p.m., on September 22, and abducted the residents.
The abductees were identified as Ms. Thida Hmwe, Mr. Htway Thein, Mr. Naw Me, Mr. Ko Latt, Mr. Naing Min and Mr. Htway Soe.
“The situation was calm from early to late evening. The junta forces did not even make the usual patrol. But they suddenly abducted the locals at night time. All of the abductees are the rich,” said a resident.
He concluded that the nefarious junta forces wanted to extort the money from the abductees as they selected and abducted only the wealthy people, although he did not know the exact reason for the abductions.
At present, the abductees were reportedly detained at Pala police station.
The terrorist junta forces have abducted the civilians in Palaw Township and they used to extort at least five million kyats per person, according to locals.
Moreover, the immoral junta forces unprovokedly captured eight locals of Pala Town and who also are migrant workers in Shan Chaung Ward of Myeik Town, during this week and extorted money from them, according to locals.
There were long fights between the Revolutionary Forces and the fascist junta forces at Let Ku Village Tract of Palaw Township from September 11 to 18. After that armed conflict, the junta forces did not allow the residents of Pala to pass the checkpoints and extort money unless they had recommendation letters from junta-appointed ward administrators.
At present, the junta army has placed hideout posts and patrolled around Pala Town daily without any regular schedule and tightened security.
