TANINTHARYI DIVISION – According to the local People Defence Forces, the alliance of PDFs and the fascist junta council troops engaged in a clash at Pawutkone Village, Palaw Township for about four hours.
The members of PDF mentioned that the battle broke out at around 4:30 a.m. on May 14 and the sounds of shooting stopped at around 8:30 a.m.
A member of LPDF said at around 7:30 a.m. that “I have heard the sounds of the heavy weapons and the small arms since early in the morning and even now.”
There is a junta council checkpoint as well as two monasteries where the junta council troops were stationed at Pawutkone Village located on the Myeik-Dawei Road.
It was initially known that the alliance of PDFs jointly attacked the stated places. There are also rumours that six members of PDF were injured and the members of PDFs managed to capture a junta council troop, during the battle. The detailed information is still under investigation.
A local from Pala Town mentioned that even though the sounds of shooting from the exchange of fire have stopped, the junta council has been firing continuous rounds of heavy weapons.
“They (junta council troops) have fired a heavy weapon from Pala Police Station, just now. We have heard around four or five rounds of heavy weapon fired but only heard one of them explode. They are firing towards Thingantaw Village,” said the local at around 9:30 a.m.
The local continued that they heard almost ten rounds of heavy weapon being fired from To Village, Pala Town on May 13 night but didn’t hear any sound of explosion.
Thingantaw Village is located on the Dawei-Myeik Road and is located next to Pawutkone Village.
During April, battles broke out four times in Pawutkone Village and and a man on the road was killed by the shooting of the junta council troops at the junta checkpoint.
